Control with her puppies. Her puppies were "rescued" but she was left behind!
Help this girl find a new family to love, she really is one of those special dogs

HARPER HAS A NEW HOME!

What a great weekend! Harper, our little star and
Apple-Pincher Terrier found a home this weekend!
She's been with us since September of last year.
She has two new doting owners, and two fellow
pooches to keep her company! Lucky dog!

HUGGY BEAR HAS A NEW HOME!

Huggy Bear went into a loving family also! Many thanks
to these wonderful women for providing our girls with
amazing, loving homes...

Rocky was rescued from Animal Control after spending many days
in a cage watching families pick out dogs that looked better than him.
Sherri Berliner, a photographer and volunteer that works with Famous
Fido, brought Rocky over for a trim and bath. After a few hours of
removing dirt, food, dreadlocks and general neglect off of the dog, the
original Rocky appeared! Malnutrition, dehydration, bites and infections
became pretty evident once the fur was gone. Sherri hopes to place
Rocky in a good home, and Famous Fido will help her efforts as well...

If you want to help dogs like Rocky receive medical treatment, good
food and the possibility of a good home, please consider a donation

quickly!

as well.

"Well Snowball (now named Benny) had a great night and first day with us. He was just pooped out and slept on the couch as we watched TV. He loves belly rubs and if you stop, he let's you know you're not done!! He slept in a cozy bed the entire night. I had to wake him to go out for a walk! Outside he was fantastic. He does growl at strangers, but once he knows you're ok, he is just a cuddlebug. We just adore him to pieces!! Here are a few pictures from today!"

Dear Friends of Petraits,

Remy (Petraits attached) is a sweet hunk of a happy and friendly,18-month-old, 75-pound, red brindle and white male Mastiff/AmericanStaffordshire Terrier-mix looking for a loving home.

Remy wasfound as a stray in Skokie. He adores people, rolls over for bellyrubs, gives kisses, and knows the commands sit, shake and speak.

It’s obvious he was someone’s pet as he is housebroken, well behaved inthe home, great in the car, crate-trained, and good on leash.

Remy is looking for a home with someone who will run him daily, or witha fenced in yard where he can exercise with his people. He’s best asthe only pet in the home. He is very healthy, neutered,heartworm-tested, micro-chipped, and up-to-date on rabies and distempervaccines.

Hello Pilots and Volunteers!

We need your help! Last year we were very successful in working together to move thousands of animals during the Pilots N Paws 5000. This years mission is the "Pilots N Paws Gulf Coast Rescue Flyway: Pilots, planes and volunteers helping the Animals of NOLA".

Many of you have likely seen the news reports. There are literally hundreds, perhaps thousands of animals who need to move out of the New Orleans/Gulf Coast area. These are perfectly healthy animals who through no fault of their own have ended up in a shelter. Many had families who loved them and are direct victims of the oil spill disaster. Their owners have lost their jobs, their homes, have no income and are barely surviving. They are turning their animals over to various shelters and rescue groups to at least give their pets a chance at finding someone to care for them. As we all know, euthanasia is a fact at many shelters, some as many as 900 a month right now which is of course totally unacceptable. We also have an extreme shortage of volunteer pilots in that area so we have not been able to fulfill requests to move these animals to other areas. NEXT MONTH WE HOPE TO CHANGE THAT!!

On September 18 with the 19th as a back-up weather date, possibly even the following weekend should the weather be totally uncooperative, we are asking for pilot volunteers to work together to move as many of these fully vetted animals to three specific areas of the country. The areas are Lakeland, Florida, D.C. (Warrenton, VA) and Caldwell, N.J.

If you are a rescue who can receive animals, please let us know. If you can offer temporary emergency foster in any of the route locations listed above, please send us a note as well.

We also have discounted hotel room rates and fuel rates for those pilots who want to fly down the day before and spend the night in New Orleans. Transport from Aero Premier FBO at New Orleans Lakefront will be avaialable to and from the hotel.

The receiving areas may be expanded beyond just these three destinations if we have pilots willing to fly the routes. We have rescues in the Madison, Wisconsin area and the Chicago area who are interested in opening their doors to animals in need. If you are a pilot along the route from New Orleans to one of these two locations, please let us know and we will expand our Rescue Flyway! If you are a rescue who can receive animals, please let us know that as well. If you can offer temporary emergency foster in any of the route locations listed above, please send us a note too.

Working together, we can save lives. One of our pilots has a sign in the side window of her plane that says "This plane has saved __ number of lives" Let's make that number climb next month by transporting as many animals as possible and giving them a chance to find that very special home.
